New York to auction off former Gov. George Miller’s Bentley in auction
NEW YORK (AP) The former New York governor’s Bentley was sold in New York for $5.7 million on Wednesday, a person with knowledge of the sale said.
Miller, 69, was governor from 2000 to 2010, and has become a fixture on the road as he prepares for his comeback as a Democratic presidential candidate.
He is one of a number of prominent Republican and Democratic figures to be out of work, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, who has said he will seek a second term.
Miller’s family is among the millions of Americans who have lost their jobs in recent years as the economy tanked and the Federal Reserve lowered interest rates.
He has repeatedly criticized the Fed and President Donald Trump.
The auction house said it would auction the Bentley, a four-door, 4.3-liter V8 Bentley with a 6.7-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, to the highest bidder.
The buyer was not named.
The Bentley was purchased in 2013 by a family member who had a collection of luxury cars in the mid-1990s, said a person familiar with the sale.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the sale was private.
Miller was a wealthy man who owned the family mansion on Long Island and several private jets.
